Abstract
Urban heat islands (UHIs) have become a significant concern in many developing cities worldwide due to their adverse impacts on urban climate, human health, and energy consumption. This research aims to analyze the phenomenon of UHIs in a specific developing city, (City Name), through a comprehensive case study approach. The study investigates the factors contributing to the formation and intensification of UHIs in the urban environment, with a focus on land use patterns, urban morphology, and meteorological conditions. The research begins with an introduction providing a background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure, and definition of key terms. The literature review explores existing studies on UHIs, urban climate, land use planning, and mitigation strategies, highlighting gaps in knowledge and areas for further investigation. Through a detailed analysis of ten key literature sources, the review sets the foundation for the research methodology.
