Urbanization and rapid development in modern cities have led to the emergence of the urban heat island (UHI) effect, which is characterized by higher temperatures in urban areas compared to their rural surroundings. This phenomenon has significant implications for the urban environment, human health, energy consumption, and overall urban sustainability. Understanding the causes and impacts of the UHI effect is crucial for effective urban planning and mitigation strategies. This research project aims to analyze the urban heat island effect in a rapidly developing city, focusing on the factors contributing to its formation and strategies to mitigate its adverse effects. The study will be conducted in City X, a rapidly growing urban area experiencing significant development and population growth. Through a combination of field measurements, remote sensing data analysis, and modeling techniques, the research will investigate the spatial and temporal variations of the UHI effect in City X. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review on urban heat island effects, including its causes, impacts, and mitigation strategies. The chapter synthesizes existing research findings to provide a theoretical framework for the study. Chapter Three details the research methodology, including data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, and modeling approaches.
