The growing concern for environmental sustainability and the increasing demand for eco-friendly packaging solutions have led to a shift towards utilizing food waste as a valuable resource for sustainable packaging. This research project aims to explore the potential of utilizing food waste in the development of innovative and environmentally friendly food packaging solutions. The study will focus on identifying various types of food waste that can be repurposed for packaging materials, evaluating the feasibility and effectiveness of these materials in terms of functionality, durability, and environmental impact, and assessing consumer perceptions and acceptance of such sustainable packaging solutions. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, discussing the background of the study, the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definitions of key terms related to food waste utilization for sustainable packaging solutions. Chapter 2 comprises a comprehensive literature review that examines existing research and developments in the field of sustainable packaging, with a focus on the utilization of food waste as a raw material. This chapter will explore the various types of food waste that can be used for packaging, the different methods of processing and transforming food waste into packaging materials, and the environmental benefits and challenges associated with these sustainable packaging solutions. Chapter 3 outlines the research methodology employed in this study, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, and ethical considerations. The chapter will also discuss the criteria used for selecting food waste materials for packaging development and the experimental setup for testing the performance and sustainability of these materials.
