Abstract
The research project aimed to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. The study utilized a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from a sample of 500 adolescents aged 13-18. The quantitative data revealed a significant correlation between social media usage and mental health issues, particularly related to self-esteem and body image concerns. The qualitative interviews provided deeper insights into the specific ways in which social media influences adolescents' perceptions of themselves and others. Overall, the findings suggest that excessive use of social media can contribute to negative mental health outcomes in adolescents. However, the research also identified potential protective factors, such as social support and digital literacy skills, that may mitigate some of the harmful effects of social media. The study highlights the importance of promoting healthy online behaviors and providing resources for adolescents to navigate the digital landscape in a positive way.
