Project Abstract



Abstract

This project studies the process of ecological succession occurring on abandoned agricultural land in [location]. Farmland that has been left idle provides an opportunity to observe how plant and animal communities naturally reestablish themselves over time in the absence of human disturbance. Through field observations and sampling, the changing composition of vegetation and wildlife will be documented annually for five years following the land being taken out of production. Factors such as soil properties, invasive species, and surrounding habitat will also be examined for their influence on the successional trajectory. The results of this study aim to increase understanding of land recovery after disturbance and inform future land management and conservation decisions.
