Project Abstract

Abstract
Methane emissions from landfills in Nigeria have become a significant environmental concern due to their contribution to greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. This research project aimed to assess the effect of methane emissions from landfills in Nigeria by examining the current trends in waste management practices, landfill design, and the implementation of methane capture technologies. The study utilized a combination of field measurements, data analysis, and modeling to quantify methane emissions from landfills in different regions of Nigeria. The findings revealed that inadequate waste management practices, such as open dumping and insufficient landfill gas collection systems, have led to substantial methane emissions from landfills in Nigeria.
