Project Abstract

The abstract section of the research content is as follows Second language acquisition is a complex process that involves various challenges and difficulties for learners. In this comparative analysis, we aim to explore and compare the problems associated with learning a second language in different contexts. The study focuses on identifying common obstacles faced by language learners and examining how these challenges vary across languages, age groups, and proficiency levels. One of the key issues identified in this research is the influence of the learner's first language on the acquisition of a second language. Transfer of linguistic features, such as grammar rules or pronunciation patterns, from the native language to the target language can lead to errors and interference. This phenomenon is particularly prominent in languages that are structurally different from the learner's mother tongue. Another significant problem in second language learning is the impact of cultural differences on language comprehension and production. Learners may struggle with understanding idiomatic expressions, social norms, and cultural nuances that are embedded in the language they are trying to acquire. This can impede effective communication and hinder the development of language skills. Furthermore, the role of motivation and attitude in language learning cannot be overlooked. Learners who lack interest or confidence in their ability to learn a second language may experience difficulties in maintaining motivation and persistence. In contrast, individuals who are enthusiastic about language learning and have a positive attitude towards the target language are more likely to overcome obstacles and achieve success in acquiring the language. Additionally, the study examines the impact of age on second language acquisition. Research suggests that younger learners tend to outperform older learners in language learning, as they are more adaptable and less inhibited by fear of making mistakes. However, older learners may have more developed cognitive abilities and life experiences that can facilitate language learning in other ways. Overall, this comparative analysis sheds light on the diverse challenges encountered by language learners in acquiring a second language. By understanding and addressing these problems, educators and language learners can develop more effective strategies and interventions to enhance language acquisition and promote successful language learning outcomes.
