Abstract
The national policy on education in Nigeria plays a crucial role in shaping the teaching and learning environment in secondary schools across the country. This research project aims to investigate the effects of the national policy on education on the teaching and learning of government in Nigerian secondary schools. The study will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Surveys will be conducted among government teachers to gather quantitative data on their perceptions of the impact of the national policy on education on their teaching practices. In addition, interviews and focus group discussions will be carried out to gather in-depth insights and perspectives on how the policy influences the teaching and learning of government in secondary schools. The research will focus on various aspects of the national policy on education, such as curriculum content, teacher training, teaching strategies, and assessment methods, to explore how these factors affect the teaching and learning of government in secondary schools. By examining the implementation of the policy at the grassroots level, the study aims to provide valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by government teachers in delivering quality education to students. The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the impact of national education policies on teaching and learning outcomes in secondary schools.
