Cooperative businesses play a crucial role in fostering economic development, particularly in rural communities where traditional economic structures may be limited. This research project aims to analyze the impact of cooperative businesses on economic development in rural communities, focusing on their contributions to local economies, social cohesion, and sustainable development. Through a comprehensive literature review, this study examines the theoretical foundations and empirical evidence supporting the positive impact of cooperative enterprises on rural communities. The research methodology involves a mixed-methods approach, including surveys, interviews, and case studies, to gather data from various stakeholders, including cooperative members, local authorities, and community members. The findings reveal that cooperative businesses contribute significantly to job creation, income generation, and poverty reduction in rural areas. Furthermore, they enhance social capital, empower marginalized groups, and promote environmentally sustainable practices. The discussion of findings highlights the challenges faced by cooperative businesses, such as access to finance, market integration, and governance issues, and proposes strategies to address these challenges.
