Project Abstract

Abstract
Waste management is a critical issue facing urban areas worldwide, including Enugu metropolis in Nigeria. This research project focuses on exploring the strategies, problems, and prospects of refuse management in Enugu metropolis. The study employs a case study approach to gain in-depth insights into the current state of waste management practices in the area. The research methodology involves a combination of qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, including interviews with key stakeholders, surveys of residents, and analysis of existing waste management policies and practices. The findings reveal a range of strategies currently in place for managing refuse in Enugu metropolis, including waste collection, disposal, and recycling initiatives. Despite these strategies, the study identifies several problems hindering effective refuse management in the area. These include inadequate infrastructure, poor waste collection services, lack of public awareness and participation, and limited funding for waste management initiatives. Additionally, the research highlights the challenges posed by rapid urbanization, population growth, and industrial activities on waste generation and management in Enugu metropolis. However, amidst these challenges, the study also identifies prospects for improving refuse management in Enugu metropolis. These prospects include the potential for implementing more sustainable waste management practices, enhancing public awareness and participation, strengthening institutional capacity, and exploring innovative technologies for waste recycling and treatment. Overall, this research project provides valuable insights into the strategies, problems, and prospects of refuse management in Enugu metropolis. The findings contribute to the existing body of knowledge on waste management in urban areas and offer recommendations for policymakers, urban planners, and other stakeholders to address the challenges and harness the opportunities for more effective refuse management in Enugu metropolis and similar urban settings.

Project Overview

1.1              INTRODUCTION

This work was obligated to present in one. The fundamental and practical information in the filed of the comparative analysis of the strength of concrete made from various aggregate which may be useful to people involve in civil and structural engineering and particularly, those that found pleasure in the design and related structure.

Due to high cost of sand in the market the comparative analysis of strength of concrete made from various aggregate play an important role in cost of transportation, thus the cost of material.

Enugu state case a case study has quite an abundance of washed gravel, which are usually picked out from stream, black and surface gravel present in every part of the state though, in many construction sites, mostly within Enugu metropolis crushed/granites stones got from Abalikik and Nkalagu are mostly used, in the rural areas, washed gravel are mostly used because of its availability and cheapness compared to crouched stones.

The aim of this project therefore, is to compare the compressive strength produced b those washed, black, surface and granite stone got from different areas and to see if there is any way, these coarse aggregate can be interchanged during construction especially when her is shortage of any one of the materials.
