Plant-pollinator interactions play a crucial role in plant reproduction and ecosystem functioning. However, their influence on plant water use efficiency (WUE) remains poorly understood. This project aims to investigate the effects of plant-pollinator interactions on plant WUE and the underlying mechanisms involved. By conducting field experiments and monitoring plant physiological parameters, we will assess the impact of pollinator visitation on plant transpiration rates, stomatal conductance, and WUE. Additionally, we will explore the role of floral traits, such as flower morphology and nectar production, in mediating the relationship between plant-pollinator interactions and WUE. The findings of this study will enhance our understanding of the ecological consequences of plant-pollinator interactions and their implications for plant water relations.
